Heritage
The Old Québec heritage site covers about 135 hectares, with an upper town on the Cap Diamant promontory and a lower town below the cliff, and nearly 1,400 buildings dating from the 17th century on. UNESCO inscribed it on December 3, 1985.[1]

From June 8 to August 31, 2026, Old Québec's two calm zones (the Quartier latin and the area south of rue Saint-Louis) were closed to cars from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; moves were admitted on proof of destination at the checkpoint.[4]

In 2026, rue Saint-Jean in Old Québec is a pedestrian street between rue D'Auteuil and côte du Palais from May 15 (from 5 p.m.) to October 12, from 11 a.m. to midnight.[5]
Snow removal
On several Old Québec streets, including rue Saint-Jean, rue Saint-Louis, rue De Buade, côte de la Fabrique, rue Saint-Paul and rue Saint-Pierre, the snow-removal parking ban runs from midnight to 7 a.m. when the orange lights flash.[6]

The City’s February 25, 2026 presentation for the rue De Buade work describes Info-Chantier follow-up for residents, institutions and businesses, including moves, deliveries and waste collection. Contact 311 to confirm the current arrangements for this project.[7]

- Borrowed sawhorses cannot hold paid parking, and in a regulated zone of La Cité-Limoilou they also need a roadway authorization (418 641-6314).[8][9]

How do I keep street space free for the truck in Old Québec?
Québec City residents can borrow moving sawhorses free of charge through 311, requesting them at least 48 hours (two business days) ahead and setting them up 24 hours before with the intended dates and times. These citizen-installed signs do not create an enforceable parking reservation. Sawhorses put up by a resident have no legal force: the City states that no ticket can legally be issued to a vehicle parked in the space they mark off.

Are there truck restrictions in Old Québec?
Trailer and semi-trailer trucks may not circulate between 9 and 11 a.m. to deliver to a commercial establishment on any street of the Old Québec territory defined in the agglomeration traffic bylaw (R.A.V.Q. 842, s. 23.0.1). R.A.V.Q. 842 defines trucks using a 4,500 kg gross-weight threshold and goods or permanently fixed equipment use, includes qualifying vehicle combinations and excludes emergency vehicles. A local-delivery exception may allow access to a truck-restricted street, subject to that street’s Annex X restrictions.
