Bulky items
Toronto directs apartment and condominium residents to their building manager for furniture and appliance disposal locations. For items not accepted for reuse, its guidance allows oversized collection on garbage day where that service applies. Confirm the building’s arrangement before excluding furniture from the moving inventory.^[1]
Permit
Halifax By-law S-300 prohibits obstructing a street without first obtaining a permit from the Engineer. The Engineer may impose conditions, require a damage deposit or refuse permission in the public interest. A proposed loading or container arrangement must be assessed before relying on the street space.^[2]
Parking
Halifax’s temporary visitor parking application excludes residents of buildings with more than 4 dwellings. It exempts specified timed or permit restrictions, but meter/payment rules, street cleaning, winter parking and other temporary controls continue to apply. It does not replace street-obstruction permission.^[3]
Health coverage
For eligible Canadian citizens or permanent residents moving from another province, Nova Scotia MSI normally starts on the first day of the third month after residency is established: September 27 means December 1. Military and separate-family moves can have different timing; confirm your eligibility and date with MSI.^[4]

Nova Scotia tells people arriving from elsewhere in Canada to contact their previous province to make sure they stay covered until their Nova Scotia Health Card coverage starts.^[4]

No. Halifax’s visitor form provides specified parking exemptions, with building-eligibility limits, and still requires compliance with meters, street cleaning, winter rules and temporary controls.
