Quebec City office movers planned around local access

Quebec City office moves start with a business handoff plan, not a household checklist. Define workstations, files, furniture, shared equipment, vendor-owned technology tasks, dock access, floor sequence, and the point when each team can resume work.

Office movers: what official sources say

Latest source review: September 27, 2026. Individual access dates appear below.

  • Permit

Since December 2024, every occupation of the roadway in Québec City, such as a dumpster, scaffolding or a work truck, requires an occupation permit requested by calling 311. The City says to allow up to 10 business days.[1][2]

  • Permit

Roadway occupation permit fees: $35 for analysis (non-refundable if refused), $15 for issuance, $1.00 per m² per day for up to 30 days, $28 per day per metered space, and $185 for no-parking signs on wooden supports.[1][3]

  • Parking

The City's loaned sawhorses may not be set up in loading zones (débarcadères) or in paid parking zones, so they cannot be used to hold metered curb space.[4]

  • Vehicle

R.A.V.Q. 842 defines trucks using a 4,500 kg gross-weight threshold and goods or permanently fixed equipment use, includes qualifying vehicle combinations and excludes emergency vehicles. A local-delivery exception may allow access to a truck-restricted street, subject to that street’s Annex X restrictions.[5]

  • Street access

Trailer and semi-trailer trucks may not circulate between 9 and 11 a.m. to deliver to a commercial establishment on any street of the Old Québec territory defined in the agglomeration traffic bylaw (R.A.V.Q. 842, s. 23.0.1).[5]

What this means for your move

  • For metered curb space near an office, borrowed sawhorses are not sufficient. Ask about a roadway occupation permit; the $28 per metered space per day is one fee component, in addition to applicable analysis, issuance or other charges.[1][3][4]

How these figures were produced

  • Hypothetical Old Quebec → Beauport example: an input distance of 12.5 km and duration of 20 min. Actual addresses can produce a different route.
  • Small office (8 workstations): 8 workstations with chairs and computers, a small meeting room, filing and 30 boxes (673 cu ft, 4,826 lb).
  • The model adds half an hour per flight of stairs, scaled by volume and capped at 3 hours, and 0.2 h of elevator waiting per address.
  • The crew is what the model assigns: it grows with volume, weight and the number of items of 150 lb or more.
  • Neutral scenario with no booking date, postal-zone or capacity adjustment. Your selected date, addresses and services can change the quote.
