• Permit

  For temporary street occupation, Toronto requires dates, times and a plan of the proposed area. The permit cannot extend beyond the property’s street frontage unless the adjoining owner gives written consent and waives related claims against the City. Confirm the applicable permit with Right of Way Management for the actual equipment and address.^[1]

• Bulky items

  Toronto directs apartment and condominium residents to their building manager for furniture and appliance disposal locations. For items not accepted for reuse, its guidance allows oversized collection on garbage day where that service applies. Confirm the building’s arrangement before excluding furniture from the moving inventory.^[2]

• Bulky items

  Toronto’s Toxic Taxi is for City residential waste customers and collects 10–50 litres or kilograms of household hazardous waste per appointment, measured by labelled container capacity. At City-serviced apartments or condos, building staff or the property manager must arrange the pickup.^[3]

• Lease

  For most Ontario tenancies, including monthly tenancies, Form N9 requires at least 60 days’ notice and a termination date on the final day of the rental period. A fixed term generally cannot end before its last day; the form describes exceptions, so check your own tenancy.^[4]

• Change of address

  When your address changes within Ontario, you must update your driver’s licence and vehicle permit within 6 days. The licence can be changed online or at ServiceOntario; the replacement vehicle permit must be collected at a ServiceOntario centre in exchange for the old permit.^[5]

• Building rules

  Ontario condo rules govern daily use of units and common elements and may regulate parking. They must be reasonable and consistent with the Condo Act, declaration and by-laws. Owners and residents should obtain their own corporation’s rules rather than assume a citywide elevator timetable.^[6]

• Bulky items

  Toronto requires Toxic Taxi liquids in sealed, non-leaking containers, with different material types kept separate in an open-topped container rather than a bag. Hazardous products cannot go in garbage, recycling, organics or drains; separate them from the ordinary moving-box inventory.^[3]

• Parking

  Toronto’s temporary resident/guest permits are not general commercial-truck permits. Eligible vans or pickups must meet personal/family-use conditions, a maximum length of 5.2 m and registered gross weight of 3,000 kg.^[7]
